Details: One Four One Collective is returning to the Toronto Fringe Festival for its 4th time to stage, in association with Flying Penguin Theatre, the world premiere of Patty Picker by Toronto playwright, Evan Bawtinheimer. After producing the critically-acclaimed Toronto Fringe Festival hits, Good Old Days, Anywhere (Patron’s Pick and Best of Fringe) and The Huns (Patron’s Pick and Best of Fringe), the Dora Nominated indie theatre collective will now present its most ambitious Fringe project yet in the Teen Category.
This charming coming-of-age story on bullying, tolerance, and acceptance tells the story of Patty, a 16 year old girl who eats Pizza for breakfast, loves to play chess, and has a secret. Patty’s life is turned upside-down when her secret shame becomes juicy gossip: Patty picks her nose! Patty struggles to return her life to normal, while dealing with her picky girlfriend Phoebe, problematic father Paul, and getting revenge on that piece of crap Preston who caused the whole mess.
A comedic adventure about the fractured teenage world, Patty Picker will be the first play by Evan Bawtinheimer to be presented as part of the Toronto Teen Fringe Festival. Winner of an Honourable Mention at the 2024 Toronto Fringe Best New Play Contest, Patty Picker is Bawtinheimer’s first play produced in Toronto and he is overjoyed to share Patty’s story with the Toronto Fringe community.
Directed by Double Dora-Nominated Cass Van Wyck, the world premiere production of Patty Picker will be performed by Dora-Nominated actor Kaitlin Race and 2 time Dora-Nominated actor Anne van Leeuwen.
Suitable for ages 13+
