Why Canned California Cling Peaches are Good for You!

In celebration of National Canned Food Month this February, the California Cling Peach Board commissioned a new survey, which revealed almost two thirds of Canadians think that the canning process adversely affects the nutritional content of the peaches –  which is not true.  In fact, the canning process has been proven to increase nutrients, and a study has revealed that canned peaches in comparison to fresh peaches are:

•    Higher in antioxidants and Vitamin A
•    Nearly four times higher in Vitamin C
•    Ten times higher in folate

The survey also revealed that 69% of Canadians would buy canned peaches more frequently if they reduced the sugar content. High sugar content is a misconception. California cling peaches contain no added sugar; they are are packed in water or their own light juice.

The following recipe, which includes canned cling peaches, is not only high in protein but it’s a delicious way to increase your fruit and nutrient intake, particularly during the cold winter months.
