Becel – Irresistible Summertime Recipes

This summer, Becel margarine is turning up the heat in the fire pit and sharing some delicious recipe ideas to enjoy in the great outdoors. Here are a couple of our favourite mouth watering gourmet dishes that you can prepare in advance for that long weekend getaway or backyard BBQ.

Halibut with Lemon, Shallots & Herbs
Looking for a simple and fast recipe in between the adventurous hikes and diving off the dock? This one requires only a couple of steps! Prepare the marinade the night before and let it set in the refrigerator until ready to use. 


Ingredients: 

1/4 cup (60 mL) Becel Buttery Taste margarine*

2 tsp. (10 mL) finely chopped shallots or fresh chives

2 tsp. (10 mL) finely chopped fresh tarragon or dill 

2 tsp. (10 mL) finely chopped fresh parsley leaves 

1/2 tsp. (2 mL) Dijon mustard 
1 tsp.
(5 mL) lemon juice 
1/4 tsp.
(1 mL) crushed garlic 

4 halibut fillets or sea bass or salmon, (about 6 oz./175 g ea.) 


Preparation: 
Combine Becel Buttery Taste margarine, shallots, tarragon, parsley, mustard, lemon juice and garlic in small bowl. Store covered in refrigerator until ready to use. Grill or broil halibut, turning once, until fish flakes with a fork, about 10 minutes. Remove halibut to serving platter, the spread about 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) Becel mixture over each fillet to create a sauce.

Garden Chive Spread
You don’t have to think outside of the ‘bread’ box to get on board with the latest trend in food – toast! Perfect for camping or the cottage, prepare your toast over a fire or grill to get that delicious smoked flavour and add heart healthy, tasty toppings like Becel Garden Chive Spread, avocados or a small amount of smoked salmon. If you’re creating your own toast recipe, try substituting butter with margarine 1:1  as a delicious way to get more good fats into your daily diet and reduce the amount of saturated and trans fat you consume. Ingredients

1/2 cup (125 mL) Becel Buttery Taste margarine*

2 Tbsp. (30 mL) fresh chives 
1/2 tsp.
(2 mL) grated lemon peel 


Preparation: 
Combine Becel Buttery Taste margarine* and all other ingredients in small bowl. Refrigerate until ready to use. Store covered in refrigerator up to 5 days.
