Celebrating the Leading Men of the Oscars with Iceberg Vodka

With all eyes on Hollywood, this year marks the 88th Academy Awards and the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role category is stacked with incredibly gifted gentlemen. To honour the dapper gents of the Oscars, Canada’s own Iceberg Vodka has handcrafted customized cocktails for each Best Actor nominee, befitting the films in which they starred.

One of these men will take home the coveted golden statuette, so choose your favourite and toast him with one of these signature cocktails, made from pure iceberg water.


Matt Damon in The Martian: The Red Planet

Unlike Matt Damon in The Martian, this cocktail would never be left behind. Savoury and surprising, The Red Planet is as cold and crimson as its celestial namesake.

2 oz. Iceberg Vodka
1 cup frozen cherry tomatoes
½ oz. lime juice
1 tsp. horseradish
1 tsp. tabasco sauce (to taste)
Salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste)
Celery stalks from garnish

Place frozen cherry tomatoes, Iceberg Vodka, lime juice, horseradish and hot sauce in a blender, then season with salt and pepper. Puree until smooth but very thick. Divide among pre-chilled glasses and garnish with celery stalks.

1.5 oz. Iceberg Vodka
1 orange, juice
2 oz. sparkling water
Sprig of mint (for garnish)
Ice

Add Iceberg Vodka and freshly squeeze orange juice to a chilled glass with ice. Top with sparkling water and garnish with a fresh sprig of mint. 


Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant: Survival Mode

A simple yet impressive recipe that embodies perseverance in a ‘Glass,’ featuring a Canadian vodka made from icebergs to reflect the relentless conditions of The Revenant.

1 ¼ oz. Iceberg Vodka
½ yellow grapefruit, juiced
2 tsps. simple syrup
Coarse salt (for rimmer)
Ice

Spread coarse salt on a small plate. Wet the rim of a glass with fresh yellow grapefruit juice and dip the rim in the salt. Fill the glass with ice. Pour Iceberg Vodka, yellow grapefruit juice and simple syrup in the glass. Stir before serving.

Appropriately garnished with an ‘Apple’, The Visionary is a complex libation designed specifically to celebrate the uncompromising genius.

2 oz. Iceberg Vodka
1 oz. apple juice
1 oz. ginger beer
2 small limes, juiced
½ tsp. cinnamon powder
¼ tsp. nutmeg, grated
3 slices of granny smith apple (for garnish)

Add Iceberg Vodka, apple juice, ginger beer and lime juice to a glass filled with ice. Stir to mix well. In a small bowl, mix cinnamon powder and nutmeg and sprinkle over the cocktail. Garnish with apple slices.

This feisty cocktail is an ode to the beautiful transformation of Eddie Redmayne’s character, reflecting the fiery red hair and lips of the The Danish Girl’s protagonist.

1.5 oz. Iceberg Vodka
5-7 fresh raspberries
½ oz. lemon juice
2 tbsp. simple syrup (boil equal parts sugar and water)
Soda water
Mint (for garnish)
Ice

Muddle raspberries in a shaker and add ice. Pour Iceberg Vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup into the shaker. Shake well and strain into a glass with ice. Top with soda water and garnish with a sprig of mint.
