Celebrity Chef Hughes recently partnered with Hellmann’s to educate Canadians on where food comes from and continue efforts towards the #RealFoodMovement, that helps families make more sustainable food choices. According to a recent study, nearly 4 in 10 Canadian adults say they don’t know where food comes from or how it’s made, two thirds of Canadian adults want to learn more about it and more than half of Canadian adults believe it’s important for children to understand where food comes from.
That’s why Hellmann’s launched its newest campaign, ‘Where does it come from?’, an extension of the Real Food Movement. The company is on a mission to use sustainably sourced ingredients, but the company can’t do this without farmers – the very best of them whom are formally recognized as a Blue Ribbon Farm. They are farmers who ‘bring out the best’ in everything they do by implementing the best sustainable agriculture practices. Hellmann’s currently sources 100% of canola oil from the Prairies and eggs from Canadian farms.
Chuck is hoping to shed light on this topic by providing tips on how Canadians can bring more local ingredients to their kitchen tables:
Five Tips From Chuck for Sustainable Living
1.
Getting absolutely everything out of every ingredient;
2. Not wasting fruits and vegetables and always use ingredients at their peak, eating in season;
3. Purchase products that are made with sustainable, local ingredients that support Canadian farmers;
4. Plant your own garden. Grow your own vegetables;
5. Choosing foods that are grown, harvested, caught or raised sustainably.

Chicken Burger Recipe (Serves 16 – 4 oz. patties)
Ingredients
2 lbs. ground chicken (mixture of thigh & breast meat)
1 red bell pepper,finely diced
2 carrots, peeled and shredded
3 cups of chopped baby organic spinach
²⁄³ cup Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise
2 farm fresh eggs
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. Dijon mustard
2 ½ cups dry bread crumbs
salt (to taste)
2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
Directions: Add all the ingredients together and mix together quickly using your hands. The bread crumbs will absorb the liquid and become sticky, so the quicker you can work, the easier it will be to combine evenly. Divide into 4 oz. patties. Grill for 7 minutes on each side (reach an internal temperature of 165°F). Serve on a multigrain bun with: Lettuce, Tomato, Sprouts, Avocado, Red onion, Hummus & Pickles.
